Similar to the threads you may have seen on Mini-ZRacer.com, we'd like to hear your feedback on whether you'd be interested in the possibility of NASCAR Epoch Indoor Racers. Our primary questions are:

If an Epoch Indoor Racer Spec 2 NASCAR RTR were to be offered, which series would you buy?

Would you be interested in older cars? Who are your favorite drivers and teams? Would you prefer to buy pre-painted/decaled NASCAR Bodies and Rims to mount to your own Spec 2, or full RTRs?

Can't release any details yet, but, what do you think? How cool would it be with half a dozen Epochs or Mini-Zs hurtling around it at top speed? Well...we'll actually be answering that pretty soon w/ a couple of videos...! :D

ahh, video's are what i'm waiting for!!! i know there is a HUGE crowd/market for oval racing. me, i prefer my road course track which i can always bank.

it looks rather large? it's hard to guage the actual size without a car in the picture.

Sweet track but I am neither an oval nor a nascar guy :) Maybe the videos can change my mind.

I'm not that much of a NASCAR guy, but I'd love to see a Bill Elliot Intrepid.

epoch1-43, if you need anyone for testing, you know how to get ahold of me. ;)

Hehe, will do - we've got about 10 different scale of cars that we need to get together and race now, don't we - hopefully the downtown racing series should be up and running soon - email me! :)

Not a NASCAR fan either (yet) but I would like to see a couple of Turbo LiPo Epoch’s maybe even with modified motors flying around that track. And some good bodies might just be the type of boost needed to launch/re-launch the Epoch.

My opinion posted in another thread:
I wouldn’t hold my breath for a Spec-3 until there are enough sales/interest world wide, to justify one. However there is a better than good chance that within a year we will see a few changes/surprises most likely in the body department first. It’s an uphill climb first you need the sales to support real changes.

I noticed there is a poll on NASCAR bodies now I personally am not a fan but I have friends and relatives that are. So let’s suppose that someone was able to bridge the horribly complicated licensing obstacle and come out with a good assortment of the more popular Hendrix Motor Sport, Ralphs Racing, and Pensky cars in AutoScale like Epoch body sets (detailed cars bodies with wheels in a display case) as long as the details where correct at a NASCAR race you could probably sell a great many body sets even to fans who don’t own an Epoch or any other RC car for that matter. The fans have a reputation for spending money and to them the fact that they could get a good RC chassis to go with their body set would just be gravy, and of course after they collected two or three bodies they’d just have to get that nifty RC car to go with them. Sound backwards and crazy? Well it is, but that’s how things tend to be. The point is that you have to find a way to sell more than just a few Epochs and it could work. The mistake would be to try to sell an RC car to NASCAR fans, sure there might be a few fans that also love micro RC cars but they would be the minority for success you have to target the widest possible client base, not limit yourself to a select few. Give the fans what they love, detailed car bodies that represent they’re favorite teams and drivers, and then give them something to love, a good micro RC car to go with it. But there are lots of mistakes that could be made and things that could go wrong. For instance even thought there are only three basic car bodies with very little actual difference a mistake in the decals could be fatal, and the body sets have to compete with die-cast aluminum bodies, the advantage is the RC component but for that to count to a NASCAR fan it would have to be clear that they aren’t just “toy” RC cars.

Long winded babbling again but cool body sets sold to an existing fan base could generate the interest and sales we need for someone to invest the time and money it would take to design and manufacture a good easy to clean differential that would in turn boost the hobby grade RC race car side of the sales equation.

Yeah, not a nascar fan, never watch it but one of my first R/C's i had was a set of 2 R/C's with Nascar bodies. Me and my bro raced them, and it would be sweet to do it with epoch. It just seems cooler racing with nascar bodies (even though i never watch it)

Not even remotely interested in a NASCAR rc. Doesn't look like many others are either considering only 3 people have actually voted. Seems to me that the majority of people that are in to small rc's prefer street and sports car racering over NASCAR. Not saying I wouldn't want to race an rc on an oval, but it sure wouldn't be a stock car.

I really question whether this venture is worth the effort. But that's the cynic in me.

But that's the cynic in me.Well since these cars originate from Japan, and reflect those body styles, I would have to say those people already here might not have a big interest in NASCAR bodies, but the idea is to attract people from outside the hobby. So I think a better indication would be to find a group of NASCAR fans, and asking if they would be interested in RC.

Hit that nail right on its head there CD. Need to know what NASCAR fans would like to see. Recruit more Epoch and micro RC fans, sell more cars, keep the prices down, get more upgrades, and eventually newer/better updated cars.

Like the whole NASCAR idea but don’t know enough about NASCAR, what do they run for motors? What would be a modified Epoch equivalent of a NASCAR to go with the body? Turbo, LiPo, modified motor? How hot?

If they could make a few right hand turns once in a while, I'd think about watching NASCAR.

I voted for "Other".

I don't watch NASCAR, I don't listen too, think, or care about NASCAR.

I'm sure if they were made, that you could sell a shitload of them to fans of NASCAR, but I just don't see any Jeff Gordon Drifter's happening anytime soon. ;)

I haven't seen a NASCAR body on a real RC car yet. I haven't looked either.

Mostly driftin' ricers, or stock bodies.

Wal-Mart would sell the living poop out of a NASCAR RC.

the nascar idea has been roundly successful in larger scale rc's. this same thread regarding mini-z's has generated TONS of support and interest. CP MINIRACEWAY has done quite well selling it's stock car, truck bodies and conversion kits for 1:28. tnb even races 1:4 scale stock car rc's and many inbetween scales. see his member gallery on mini-zracer, it's worth looking thru.

while nascar itself might not be your cup of tea so to speak, becasue it's not mine either, it remains teh most popular form of racing here in the u.s. thus the huge potential to attract more people to rc's at various scales. it's not so much about the nascar as it is about marketing to a wider audience in my opinion, which i will support fully for both epochs and 1:28.

now, i would rather see american le mans and jgtc series bodies ;)
